Our Story

Naivety World Productions is an independent film and storytelling studio creating character-driven work that explores love, identity, creativity, and the complexity of being human.
In a world that often rewards cynicism, detachment, and emotional self-protection, we create films, conversations, and creative work that invite people to feel deeply, reflect honestly, and reconnect with themselves and one another.
Every story we tell is rooted in the belief that vulnerability is courageous, curiosity is powerful, and the stories that stay with us are often the ones that remind us what it means to be human.
Our Belief
Naivety is a word most people avoid because it’s associated with being unwise, too soft, or too trusting.
To us, naivety is choosing to not be hardened by disappointment or corrupted by exposure. It is the intentional choice to preserve openness, honesty, and curiosity in how we move through the world.
We believe there is courage in remaining open in a world that keeps telling us to harden. That belief shapes the stories we tell, the conversations we create, and the community we are building.
Our Areas of Work
Film: Narrative films and visual storytelling that entertain while inviting reflection.
Audio: Music, film scores, podcasts, conversations, and immersive audio experiences.
Journal: Essays, reflections, poetry, film commentary, and conversations exploring storytelling, creativity, culture, and the human experience.
Creative Projects: Collaborative, community-centred, and interdisciplinary storytelling initiatives.
Our Community
Naivety World is the community platform of Naivety World Productions.
Through stories, poetry, reflections, film commentary, and conversations, it extends the dialogue beyond our films, creating space for people who believe stories can help us understand ourselves and one another a little better.
Founder
Margaret Gathenya is a Kenyan filmmaker, writer, producer, and director whose work explores the emotional complexity of the human experience through character-driven storytelling.
Through Naivety World Productions, she develops film and narrative projects that invite audiences to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with what it means to remain open in an increasingly guarded world.
Through Naivety World, she builds a public space for reflection, conversation, and community around love, intimacy, and emotional honesty.
