Call for Writers. Naivety World Stories

Overview
Naivety World is inviting writers to contribute original work that explores love, emotional honesty, and the human experience through story.

This is a curated call. We are intentional about what we publish and how it lives in the world. Naivety World exists to put love back into conversation, through writing that is thoughtful, grounded, and responsible in how it handles emotion.
Who This Call Is For
This call is currently open to:
- Writers living in Kenya
- Writers aged 21 years and above
Submissions that do not meet these requirements will not be reviewed.
What We’re Looking For:
We are accepting submissions in the following categories:
Love in Film
Thoughtful reflections on how love is shown in film. This can include character dynamics, relationships, emotional arcs, and what films reveal about intimacy, longing, commitment, loss, or desire. These are not technical reviews, but you can add how aspects like cinematography, music and directing enhances this.
Short Fiction
Original short stories that centre love, connection, change, and emotional turning points. Stories should aim to offer insight, reflection, or emotional clarity.
Personal Blog (Life Lessons)
Personal essays drawn from lived experience, lessons about love, boundaries, growth, healing, or self-understanding. These should be more reflective than reactive.
Poetry
Poems that explore love in its many forms — romantic, self-love, family, friendship, and community. We value clarity, restraint, and emotional precision.
Editorial Direction
Naivety World is a soft but serious space.
We welcome:
- Emotional honesty
- Complexity
- Difficult truths
- Accountability
We do not publish work that exists mainly to shock, harm, or flatten the human experience. We are interested in stories that give the reader perspective, feeling, clarity, or recognition
Word Limits
- Love in Film: 800–1,200 words
- Short Fiction: 600–1,500 words
- Personal Blog: 700–1,200 words
- Poetry: Up to 3 poems per submission, each no longer than 40 lines
Submissions far outside these ranges may not be reviewed.
Compensation
A modest honorarium of KES 300 is offered for approved and published pieces.
Credit & Attribution
All approved contributors will be:
- Credited clearly on the website
- Named as the original author of their work
- Tagged where applicable on Naivety World social platforms
Your authorship remains visible and respected.
Editorial Review & Rights
By submitting to Naivety World, you agree that:
- All submissions go through editorial review
- Acceptance is not guaranteed
- Naivety World may request edits for clarity, length, or alignment (no changes will be made without your approval)
- Accepted pieces grant Naivety World first publication rights and non-exclusive rights to publish on its platforms
- Contributors retain ownership and may republish their work later, with credit to Naivety World as the original publisher
- Naivety World may decline or withdraw pieces that conflict with its editorial direction
How to Submit
- Submit original, unpublished work only
- Indicate your category clearly
- Include a short bio (2–3 sentences)
- You may attach up to 3 images to accompany your work. Images should support the written piece (photography, artwork, stills, or visuals connected to the story).
- Upload your images to Google Drive and paste the sharing link in the submission form. Set access to “Anyone with the link can view. Accepted formats: JPG, PNG. Images must be original or properly credited images you are allowed to use.
Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis
